Description
Alfred is the easy website analytics plugin for small business owners — not marketers, not developers, not data nerds. It connects your WordPress site to Small Business Analytics (smallbusinessanalytics.io) and tells you who’s visiting, where they’re coming from, and what’s actually working — all explained in plain English. No jargon, no complicated dashboards, no Google Analytics confusion.
If you’ve ever opened Google Analytics, seen 47 menus, gotten overwhelmed, and closed the tab — this plugin is for you.
This plugin connects your WordPress site to your SBA dashboard. Install it, paste in your tracking code, and you’re done. No theme files to edit, no Google Tag Manager, no developer needed.
Why use this instead of Google Analytics?
Because Google Analytics was built for marketers at big companies. Most small business owners open GA4, see 47 menus, get confused, and close the tab.
SBA tells you things like:
- « Your TikTok video on Tuesday brought in 23 new visitors »
- « Most of your visitors leave on the contact page — that’s where you might be losing customers »
- « Your busiest hour is 2pm on weekdays — that’s a good time to post on social »
The dashboard is in plain English. Numbers are explained in plain English. An AI assistant named Alfred can answer questions like « is my Instagram working? » — and actually answer them.
What this plugin does
It does exactly one thing: adds your SBA tracking code to every page of your site. That’s it.
- Zero performance impact — the tracker is one tiny script that loads asynchronously (it doesn’t block your site from rendering).
- No data stored on your site — the plugin doesn’t create database tables, doesn’t set cookies, doesn’t write to your filesystem.
- No theme editing required — pop in your tracking code, save, done.
- Works with every WordPress theme — uses the standard
wp_headhook. - Your data is yours — we never sell, share, or use your visitor data for anything but showing it to you. Total privacy, always.
You’ll need an SBA account
This plugin connects your site to Small Business Analytics, which is a free 7-day trial, then a paid service (plans start at $9/month). No credit card is required to start — sign up at smallbusinessanalytics.io (about a minute) and you’ll get your tracking code right away. Paste it into the plugin settings and you’re tracking. After 7 days you add a card to keep going; if you don’t, your trial simply ends and you’re never charged automatically.
External Services
This plugin connects to Small Business Analytics (https://smallbusinessanalytics.io), a third-party website analytics service, to enable visitor tracking on your site.
What it does:
The plugin loads a small JavaScript tracker file from https://app.smallbusinessanalytics.io/tracker.js on every public-facing page of your site. When a visitor browses your site, the tracker sends anonymous visit data (page URL, referrer, device type, approximate location based on IP, time on page) to https://app.smallbusinessanalytics.io/api/track so it can appear in your SBA dashboard.
What data is sent:
– Page URL and title
– Referring URL (where the visitor came from)
– Device type (mobile, tablet, desktop) and browser
– Approximate location (city/region/country, derived from IP — IP itself is not stored long-term)
– Time on page, scroll depth, basic engagement signals
– A randomly generated visitor ID stored in the browser’s localStorage (not a cookie) for returning-visitor recognition
What data is NOT sent:
– Personally identifying information (no names, emails, phone numbers, account info)
– Form contents, passwords, or sensitive page content
– Anything from logged-in WordPress admin pages — the tracker only runs on public pages
Terms and Privacy:
– Terms of Service: https://smallbusinessanalytics.io/terms
– Privacy Policy: https://smallbusinessanalytics.io/privacy
You need a Small Business Analytics account (free trial available, paid plans start at $9/month) for the tracker to actually log visits to a dashboard you can view. The plugin itself can be installed without an account, but won’t display data anywhere until you add your tracking code.

FAQ
-
Is it free?
-
The plugin is free. Small Business Analytics is a paid service that begins with a free 7-day trial — no credit card needed — then plans from $9/month. You’re never charged automatically: after the trial you choose whether to add a card and continue. See smallbusinessanalytics.io for pricing.
-
Will this slow down my site?
-
No. The tracker loads asynchronously, which means your page renders first and the tracker loads in the background. It adds zero blocking time.
-
Does it work with caching plugins (WP Rocket, W3 Total Cache, etc.)?
-
Yes. The tracker is a tiny script tag injected into the HTML and is fully compatible with full-page caching. Your cache plugin doesn’t need any special configuration.
-
The plugin itself sets no cookies. The tracker uses
localStorage(not cookies) to recognize returning visitors. No personal information is collected. -
Yes. Because the tracker uses
localStoragerather than cookies, and because no personal information is stored without explicit consent, most jurisdictions classify this as low-impact analytics. Check with your legal counsel for your specific situation. -
I have multiple sites on one SBA account. Will this work?
-
Yes. Your tracking code includes both an account identifier and a site identifier. As long as you paste the correct one for this WordPress site, all data flows to the right place in your dashboard.
-
What if I uninstall the plugin?
-
When you uninstall, all plugin settings are removed from your WordPress database. Your historical data in the SBA dashboard is unaffected. You can reinstall and re-paste your code any time.
-
I need help. Who do I email?
-
support@smallbusinessanalytics.io — a human (the founder, usually) will respond.
